Who We Are

Welcome! We are the founders of Station2050, Drs. Diane Flannery and Amy Jane Griffiths. We are fascinated and passionate about supporting our communities as we move into an unpredictable future. We believe that individuals, parents, communities, schools, and businesses can be prepared and possess the right skills for the future. With these skills, there are unlimited opportunities for all.

We both have children, and we often wonder how these futures changes will impact their lives. Diane has a daughter in college and, Amy who has three young boys. We have had many conversations about how our changing world is impacting our families, and how the future will affect our careers and our children’s future opportunities and overall life satisfaction. We have worked together on a project that identified the essential skills that people need to be successful in the 21st century. Both of us were dismayed that many of our educational systems today do not teach these skills, let alone provide opportunities for practice. Extracurricular activities also do not address many of the identified skills. Popular parenting sites rarely discuss these concepts, and there is no available resource that takes research and develops it into easy to use solutions (until now).

In early 2018, we collaborated on an educational project in South Africa. Again we were faced with the problem of systems that were not anywhere near adept at providing children with the necessary skills to be successful in the future. Many communities that are currently left behind are on track to be even further marginalized.

We are fascinated by the potential use of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, robots, machine learning, self-driving cars, Blockchain, and automation vehicles (especially Diane!). We have training in psychology, education, and human behavior.

Through our combination of interests and skills, many questions arise not only about how children can be successful in the future but also how to maintain a level of positive mental health and well-being.

  • How do we ensure that our psychologists, counselors, and educators prepare themselves for the mental health issues of the future?

  • How do we support individuals to identify the skills they will need and master these skills through agility and lifelong learning?

  • How do we accomplish this in a world in which not all countries are in the same position and same start line?

Station2050 was born to research and create future-based solutions. We want our solutions to be fun, easy to use, and evidence-based. We want to prepare individuals with the necessary skills to develop strong and flexible futures for themselves, their children, and their communities.
